Interesting viewpoint and I think quite valid as "survival of the fittest" applies here and the panda is, quite frankly, too stupidill adapted to survive. It would be entirely different if all it took was to conserve or expand his habitat.

I'd be interested to hear what my naturalist/conservationist friends think about this.

Our other option is to force evolve the panda and feed the damn stupid animal steak, to show it what it's missing.

get it a nice big roast with some gravy as well, show it some proper grub.

Heh, you should read the Neil Gaiman short story Sunbird, about an exclusive club of people whose aim it is to eat every single species of animal, including mystical ones (like the Sunbird).
It's in Fragile Things.

Funny you should say that, the panda used to be a carnivore (it still has canines) and then for some unknown reason decided to switch to one of the most difficult to digest and metabolise plants ever.
