Brought on by a silly conversation last night, is there an equivalent of "love handles" in French?
Cheers!

I seem to remember it being "manettes".

So nothing that conveys the same meaning?
Hang on, with a little cross-translation via a German-French online dic/language forum, I found <href="http://www.liberation.fr/medias/010119434-paris-match-gomme-les-poignees-d-amour-de-sarkozy">poignées d'amour. Does that ring a bell?

Thinking back, I only ever heard manettes used in the Dordogne so maybe it was local. "Poignées d'amour" is the more usual term.

The direct translation is "poignées d'amour" proving once again that everything sounds sexy in French!

Strangely that thread was not on my screen when I posted! Ah well :)

We posted pretty much at the same time, hence the snap comment. ;)

Hilarious! We were saying "Han-DELLS d'amour". Because we did not know what the french for "handles" was. XD

I don't have love handles, I have handles d'amour.

I ought to demand a royalty every time this gets used :)

less cutsey is more common : "bourrelets".

but that's not an equivalent. For example, there isn't one in German, the only non-descriptive term is "Rettungsring" (live preserver, as on a boat).

I confirm it is "poignées d'amour" :)
