Quote from Leverage, 2nd ep of 2nd season:

Sophie: "Meat should never be used as an adjective." (referring to chicken fried steak)

(we'll disregard that "chicken" is actually used as an adverb here, it's the thought that counts)

Thank you but I've seen these (not difficult when you keep up with both their tweets and blogs). AFP is spot on but NG is a bit off. Not enough (or at least not voluminous enough) hair for a start and his features are too smooth.
Can't wait for the Union Chapel gig on the 12th of September, especially as NG is going to be there as well to sign the WKAP book. :D
Now if only [livejournal.com profile] kylecassidy was there as well, then I'd have three of my favourite artists in the same spot...

Ambiguously as an adjective or adverb, I would have said. Could be analogous to either "deep fried fish" or "tasty fried steak".

Would the word "unhygeinically" be more appropriate in this context.(Given that, as far as I can gather, "chicken fried steak" is steak that has been fried in the juices of a roast chicken, or something equally artery-hardening...

(And yes, I'm totally addicted to Leverage...)

Heh, it's actually worse.
It's a battered, deep-fried (because "if it ain't fried it ain't right") minute steak, smothered in a white (mushroom) sauce so a bit like a German Jägerschnitzel.
I had one at Routiers in Nashville, it was nice but almost sickingly rich and I stupidly had a milkshake afterwards...

So how does the chicken enter the equation?

A minute steak in a mushroom sauce doesn't actually sound so bad. That said, it would depend on what the mushroom sauce in question involved...

And yeah, I can imagine what happened after the milkshake...

Fed...watered...sleep now...

As in the original point of the post "chicken" is used adverbially, i.e. the steak is fried like you would chicken (as bastardised by KFC).

Truly bizarre.

Then again, they don't have the Trades Description Act over there.

When are you in London next?

Arse. I'll be in Bath at [livejournal.com profile] intothev0id's housewarming.

Will have to arrange a meet-up/piss-up/cook-off, I feel.

Heh, you're absolutely right.

Leverage (http://www.tnt.tv/series/leverage/) is a brilliant US TV series that sadly nobody over here wants to pick up by the look of it. It's already in its 2nd season in the US. Thank the makers for bittorrent.
Very roughly, it's a band of modern Robin Hood types righting wrongs in the business and financial world, a bit like the A-Team but with less firepower and more brains.

*giggles* I think it's more of a mad grin than a smile. If I smiled like that people would be running away from me all the time.
