Another bloody 3D film I won't be able to see at the cinema. When is this fad going to stop?

But that's OK. Because if you could all you'd hear would be me. Screaming.

Why? It looks pretty good.

Because it appears that Tim Burton has taken a pair of what are essentially excellent philosophical parodies and American McGee's dystopic take on them and turned them all into a heap of twee sub-Charlie and the Chocolate Factory garbage.

However, that's a big opinion on a small trailer so we shall see. Tim Burton's generally terrible at anything beyond slightly twee nonsense with the notable exception of Ed Wood.

Fair enough.

Hopefully they'll show it in non-3d too.

Hopefully. They didn't with Coraline (in neither of the two Cambridge cinemas it was on) but with others (currently Ice Age is on in both versions).

Oh, we got Coraline in non-3D.

I complained bitterly to the Cambridge VUE about that and only got a sorry, we'll try better in the future, ladida reply. :o(

they will. I doubt all films will be in 3D- they'd lose a chunk of audience.

It's fucking irritating me, too. 3D! Instant migraines! :D FUCK YOU CINEMA

I'm curious - why can't you see 3D films?

Strabismus, i.e. my eyes' axes aren't exactly parallel (when I look straight on, the right eye looks straight while the left points to the right from my point of view). The glasses correct this somewhat but not completely.
In real life this means I have limited depth perception, in a 3D film I would see two overlapping pictures and I wouldn't get the 3D effect.

The only difference I have is that my left eye points to the LEFT from my POV, and that because this was due to an infant squint and subsequent lazy eye I do not have it corrected.

3D movies are teh ebil :(

So that's at least five people on my f-list alone who can't see 3D films. :/

I really enjoy the new 3d movies... They really do look great for those of us that can see them.

I suspect 3D movies aren't so much going to stop as become more frequent (and hopefully better done). On the plus side, that should mean better provision in future for people who can't see them. Like non-3D versions being standard, for example.

It apparently annoys cyclopses too. ;-)

Hopefully.
I'll watch 3D films when they are actually 3D, i.e. holographic.

Heh, or basically anyone with poor depth perception.

Like me...and I'm told they still don't work well for anyone who wears glasses...like me. I can't wear contacts at all...which means no 3D for me.

*nods* Same here because my main reason for glasses is the strabismus.

Glasses is something I hadn't actually thought about and would concern, what, 60% of the population?

However, I'm told it depends on the size of the 3D glasses. Some are OK because they work similarly to safety goggles for glasses wearers but others can be a bit small.
