[Film] Drag me to Hell
2 Jun 2009 09:14 pmwas good. Really good, actually. It's a classic horror film, both in theme (gypsy woman curses bank employee who refuses to extend her mortgage and the plot follows her trying to get rid of it) and in style (modernised but none of that modern nonsense). The end is fantastic and put a big smile on my face. That's how proper horror films should be. It also has a few Evil Dead style fantastically funny bits with better production values. There's some CGI but there are also good old-fashioned physical (makeup) effects.

I'm a hardened cynic but it made me jump or grip the armrests several times but also laugh out loud (there's a wonderful scene involving an anvil). It is very well done in that it lulls you in a false sense of security and hits you when you least expect it.
