I just realised I haven't written about this yet. I went to see it yesterday afternoon and I liked it a lot but I suspect it won't be for everyone.
The plot is set in the early 80s (judging by the "fashion" and the mentioning of Breshnev) Sweden and follows 12-year-old Oskar who lives with his (separated) mum and is being bullied at school. He meets a new neighbour's girl (Eli) who encourages him to face the bullies. The horror element comes in when it turns out that the girl only comes out at night and lives off people's blood.
I don't want to give too much away but the situation escalates and quite a bit of blood flows. However, the main focus of the film is on the relationship of the two lead roles who are remarkably well played by the young actors.
There are a few laughs but for most of the time, the film is very bleak and a bit slow in places but thinking back, it all made sense and just added to the feel of the film.

I hope that the already announced remake will never be shown here because there are so many things that aren't going to work when set in a modern, American setting.

Oh, and this was definitely the last time I was at Cineworld. It might just be me but every time I was there (probably less than five), there was a problem with the projection, this time half of picture dropping below the screen during the trailers. I left the screen to find someone to fix it but thankfully somebody else was already talking to the bod at the entrance and when I was back they'd fixed it. The first few times after opening I could just have accepted stuff like this but what, five years after? No.

I only realised that teh film was set 30 years ago with teh mention of Brezhnev. Until then I was sitting there thinking "The standard of living in Sweden doesn't look anything like as high as everyone says".
