Kurt Weill on wikipedia

The Threepenny Opera
Probably his most well known work and his famous collaboration with Bert Brecht.

An English version:

Not to forget the one by Louis Armstrong:

His facial expressions in this one are priceless:

Mack the Knife is one of my absolute favourite songs, as I may have mentioned elsewhere - I've got a Bobby Darin version, but I still think Louis Armstrong did the best English version of it...

One of these days I'll get to see the Threepenny Opera. I almost made it to the original Beggar's Opera last month, but I was a bit... disorganised... :-(

*nods* It's great stuff.

On Wednesday, I pointed out to [livejournal.com profile] ginasketch how Amanda Palmer (who is a big fan as well) had changed the KURZWEIL on her e-piano to KURTWEILL (as can be seen here (http://flickr.com/photos/karohemd/3255836819/)) and was surprised to find out she didn't know him so I found some examples.

Amanda Palmer?

Did somebody asked why she changed the name of her keyboard to Kurt Weill instead of Kurtzweill?

Yep, see comment above. AFP also mentioned on her blog that she was playing lots of Weill recently.
