This was the greeting when I logged into flickr:

O HAI karohemd!

Now you know how to greet people in Lolspeak!

In other news, I had lamb steaks, mushrooms and onions in red wine/balsamic reduction, potatoes and steamed broccoli for dinner. Yum.

The word "reduction" always sounds incongruously prosaic for a posh foodie term. Dunno if that's just me.

But since you mentioned it, I had home-made cream of mushroom soup, with equally home-made garlic and herb croutons (some with cheese, some without). I make a lot of soups in the winter, but that is probably my favourite, challenged only by Cullen Skink, which I plan to make next weekend.

I could have quite handled lamb steaks to follow, but in my case, there were none on hand. Oh well. I shall make it up to myself by having a Full English tomorrow morning... well... almost full. I used all the mushrooms this evening!

Maybe because it needs time and love to get it just right?

Sounds nice, too. I'd love to do more soups but they are always a bit tricky for me being on my own and not having a freezer so when I do make some, I usually have several days worth. :o(
Please ignore my ignorance, what's Cullen Skink? Sounds Scottish.

It is Scottish. It's a thick creamy soup, almost stew-like in consistency, made from smoked haddock and potato.

Really tasty.

Incidentally, the mushroom soup recipe I use, in its default proportions, is intended to feed two as a main course, or four as a starter portion, so it might not be too excessive.

A bit like a chowder? Sounds good.

*nods* When I make soup it tends to be to get rid of stuff that needs using, like the broccoli last night. It ended up being a good portion last night and I'll have another either tonight or tomorrow lunchtime.
