Poor Show

Watching Jonathan Creek. They had the website of one of the characters plastered all over the screen so I had a look. Is it an actual website? Nope.
The rest doesn't seem to be very good, either. I'll give it another 15 minutes and switch back to Dresden if it doesn't improve.

I'm not much of a fan of the later series, which this appears to be one of - but I really liked the early Verity Lambert ones.

However this episode is a little better than most of the later stable - there is a second murder mystery later - which is resolvable with the data shown. Unlike the locked room headline mystery which was just so much, blah.

This is actually a newly made Christmas special, I believe. I'd been looking forward to it...

Annoyingly, I have just discovered that the Tivo has had one of its occasional "urp, can't change the channel" fits, and so the recorded version is considerably less interesting (consisting of a plain blue screen...)

It was slow to start but I thoughly enjoyed it. It could have been cut down to 90 minutes if you ask me though, which would have helped.

It was definitely too long. What was the point of the 3D porn thing and related cheap jokes?

No idea.

I think that was just a device to show Jonathan's employer (whose name has never stuck in my head) as a vacuous pervert (again), and to insert some lightweight sex-related humour into the otherwise fairly sinister content of the plot.

So pretty much doing what he usually does really, but if you are saying that they were grasping at straws with that one, then I tend to agree with you.

Other than that, I quite enjoyed it to be honest. I had it on in the background while I was doing something else. Maybe I would have been more demanding if I'd given it my whole attention.

I loved the "Felix Dies!" clue and the contraption with the bathtub, even if it was a bit OTT (the water tank must have been an awesome construction to hold for that long) but there was too much drivel.

I thought it was poor. The central mystery was good but all the stuff surrounding was drivel. Alan Davies wasn't too bad, Sheridan Smith was pretty good, but everyone else seemed to be going through the motions. And Judy Parfitt got the most rediculous lines.

Mm, this was the first time I've ever watched it (at T's sister's urging) and I must say I thought it was pretty sh!te. Apart from what you mention, the plot had a number of ridiculous logic holes and idiot-behaviour-required passages, which I think are pretty unforgivable in something that purports to be a mystery.

I enjoyed it, it has become a bit of a characature of itself but as comedy murder mystery goes, I think it was fun.
