(BBC2) Not much new to me but nice and well presented, giving alternatives for specialised ingredients (e.g "if you can't get black rice vinegar use balsamic"). Easy, quick, using only fresh ingredients and much lighter than a takeaway. Cheap, too. Take that, Delia and your stupid processed food shite.

Oh god I hate that new book she wrote. How lazy can you get.

I'd say so, especially when you're new to Chinese cooking.
It also included various bits of useful info and cultural references (e.g. how to season a carbon steel wok and which foods are considered Yin and which Yang).
It's well and casually presented without being patronising. Oh, and the presenter is quite cute, too. :o)

I thought her coy little smiles were trying a big hard to be Nigella though.

I never looked at the book. I only managed to half watch two episodes of that. The recipes weren't actually that bad, had she used fresh ingredients.

Think of Jamie Oliver or Gordon Ramsay (as people) what you will but they know how important fresh and (ideally) locally sourced ingredients are and how to prepare them.

but a lot less irritating than Nigella's.

Oh i agree. As chefs they're brilliant but after that they tend to do my head in.

And I never saw the series. I flicked through her book in the library.

Maybe I should try and catch it on iplayer at some point, then. I used to do odds and ends of chinese, but seem to have fallen out of the habit.

I hate watching that sort of programme while I'm doing a really lazy meal! I got home late, so just stuck on some oven chips and Quorn pasties, which were cooking while I watched this... damn, I wanted chicken chow mein!

Chinese tomorrow methinks!

I really enjoyed it - in fact, I am going to cook Chicken Chow Mein this evening because I am sure that hers tastes fantastic. That beef on top of that spinach looked gorgeous.

It was on in the background while I was farting around on my PC last night, and I noticed that the Chinese cook lady is a cutie! :)

Ooh, I should watch that, thank you. I will eat Chinese food again!

And no MSG in sight. However, she mentioned that some bottled sauces do contain it so always read the label.
