Just a clarification, I don't think blind people aren't able to cook, on the contrary. But this is not his kitchen (a professional one at that) and not his equipment.

ETA for those not in the UK or up with UK politics: he's blind.

I guess in his job he got very used to navigating unfamiliar places, but this sounds even more impressive!

*nods* It would still have been impressive in his own kitchen where he not only knows where everything is by a fraction of an inch but also how much he needs to turn the knobs to get the right temperature etc.

Going by touch while cooking isn't exactly practical...

Yep, I was wincing at watching him cut stuff up - then realised he was noly chopping them small enough to fit into an dicing gizmo to cut them finely, which seemed far less likely to result in unexpected meat concent in the pie ;)

Simple things like pouring the right quantities of stock must be so tricky though...I imagine that with experience of specific dishes, you get used to working it out by residual weight of the jug - but trying out new recipes must be a pain!

*nods* If he'd started dicing things really finely, I'd have really worried. That said, I've seen Jamie Oliver slice onions at breakneck speed *while looking at the camera*...
