In the Berocca TV ad you can see a group of people doing very similar things on treadmills like OK Go (thanks
madwitch) in their video.
Aha, I'm not the first to think this (the page also has the OK Go video).

The biggest advice I can give at the start is practise, practise and practise some more (I guess that's true for any activity). With a digital camera that's quite easy, you won't waste any film and you can see the results instantly.
I've never had any formal training and just learned by doing and getting advice and constructive criticism from photographer friends.
I had a quick look at your flickr and already like what I'm seeing. :o)
I don't have much experience with Photoshop and mainly use it (or rather Adobe Lightroom these days) for things like contrast/brightness/exposure adjustment and cropping (if necessary).
