Yesterday my Nikon 85mm f1.4D arrived and boy, it's gorgeous! The only drawback is the lens hood that screws into the filter thread which means you can't put the lenscap on while the lens hood is attached.
We were at [livejournal.com profile] razornet's playing Call of Cthulhu so what better chance to test it than on black cats in a dimly lit front room. These were taken with the D70 at ISO800 so they still are quite noisy but I'm reasonably happy with them:

Stella?

Tarmac

I CAN HAS PIZZA NAO?

The game session was hilarious due to our PCs' incompetence and the silliest combat ever. Five grown men vs. an old man and he almost got away...

Then on my way home, I remembered that I had wanted to take a photo of the Budgens sign for quite a while so I did:

Budgens of Arbury
Sounds posh, doesn't it? The reflection is odd but I like it.

Upside down, backwards and in green, Budgens looks like the name of some unpronounceable Lovecraftian entity! LOL

I think the top one is Stella (the older one) and the one below is tarmac (huge kitten now) as he's a bit more slender, but I'm not sure.

I want to take some pics of them in better light. :o)
There's a third one, a tabby, but she didn't show up last night. Hopefully I can grab her next time.

Yes, Stella is the one with green eyes and slightly bald ears (!) and Tarmac has yellow eyes and protruding vampiric teeth :-)

Heh, those are good reminders. Thanks.
Hope you'll be able to join us next time, you're missing out on the insanityfun!

I really wanted to join you, but it's just bad luck that I've been ill (separate illnesses!) both the last sessions :-( You wouldn't want what I've got now - chest and throat infection, stopping me sleeping properly, making me feel ghastly.

I hope it clears up soon!

WTF is wrong with Nikon - I thought everyone had sussed the "non rotating filter mount with oblong non-rotating hood clipping over the end of the lens" thing, but no, Nikon won't do it that way. My short zoom is the same. Tossers!

This is an older lens model and they probably haven't bothered updating it. With the newer models (e.g. my kit lens), the lens hood attaches to the outside. My 50mm didn't come with a hood so I don't know.
