Was that an earth tremor? The house just wobbled...

Reports coming in from Scotland to Berks, not Holland, that was Chinese whispers at work.

a lot of people seem to be just now - talking with some people in holland online too who noticed something.

I just felt a sort of wobble, but was'nt sure if it was me being sleepy having some sort of slight shake.

ah well. I for one welcome out Cthonic overlords. Ia! Ia!

Yep, reports coming in via the internet from all over England. Thought the chimney was going to fall off...

It was a pretty widespread one if you felt it all the way down there...

Even across to Holland apparently, according to suzerain (who is in Scotland) above. That's one hell of a radius...

Any idea of the epicentre? It felt pretty strong here, but not earth-shattering. About five seconds of serious wobble.

BBC News ticker across the top says West Midlands but no details yet.

Not in Holland, Chinese whispers at work but still, an area from Dundee to Berks is damn impressive.

Certainly one in Leicester and the West Midlands. The BBC news site is also now reporting the West Midlands tremor.

As I noted in [livejournal.com profile] snapesbabe's blog, a 4.7 is pretty dull to those of us who are native Californians. That said, it is a bit creepy to have what you think of as 'solid Earth' suddenly remind you that it's anything but. Glad you're OK.

I know and I'm not worried at all, it's just unusual. It's not something that happens regularly around here (or where I lived before)

I thought I felt a wobbling sensation at that time. In fact it was enough to make me remember the time in case anyone mentioned about it this morning, but last night I was surrounded by 3 cats and was beginning to fall asleep so I assumed one of them had just decided to start vigorously licking itself at the bottom of the bed :D

Cut and paste of comment I posted elsewhere - apologies if you see it more than once

I heard a bang (which I hope isn't going to turn out to be bad news, but so far I haven't spotted anything) and the room shook three or four times. Since I live next to the main railway line into Paddington I assumed it was a train revving its engines, which has a similar effect though with higher frequency. But I couldn't hear a train, so I chalked it up as traffic or something until I heard the news this morning,

Felt like a thump to the outside of the house, but didn't feel anything shake...

Were a couple of bangs outside, which I assume were things falling over

As I live in a very old building and the structure didn't actually shake I just thought the wobbly noise was air in the central heating. As usual.
