Seen this evening:
Jumper: This could be good or really bad. Lots of confusing action in the trailer and bloody Anakin don't fill me with confidence.
10,000 BC: Erm, what? If it doesn't have Raquel Welch in it, I don't want to see it. :oP Heh: A quote from imdb: "If you liked Pathfinder/Apocalypto ..you will certainly ADMIRE this one!" That'll be a no, then.
Mamma Mia: Why, please, by all that is good and holy, WHY? That'll be another no.
Now I can't remember the others, argh...

While reading stuff on imdb, I found out they're making Neuromancer. Oooh, I hear you say, with it coming out in two years' time and 3D technology that actually works, this film could be the thing. Then you read that bloody Anakin has been cast as Case. Then again, it could be Keanu Reeves...

Thank you. I am very relieved I am not the only one totally unexcited by the 10.000 BC trailer. Saw it before "Cloverfield" last night and just thought "Naaah!".

After an initial geekgasm on reading your entry, I have caught myself again and will be excited by the news of "Neuromancer" when I sit there in the cinema clutching my ticket. (annoying the person next to me)
I am not worried about Hayden as Case, but if Molly and The Finn are shit, there will be trouble.
Plus, I am somewhat worried by the director being somebody who has only done music videos (and "Torque") so far. This has to work, this cannot become "Johnny Mnemonic II". No, it cannot! I liked the idea of Chris Cunningham. With a good scripz (i.e. not the one I read a few years back).

Yes, I hope they're not going to ruin the licence.

I seem to be the only person in the world who liked Johnny Mnemonic. At the time it came out, I used to play a lot of Shadowrun so it felt like a cool cyberpunk film (disregarding Reeves' acting or trueness to the source material), there was cyberware, overcybered junkies (the preacher), street docs (Henry Rollins!), Ice T's rat shaman, monofilament whips, cyberspace and whatnot. Everybody else seemed to think it was rubbish.

What did you think of Cloverfield? I'm going to see it next week.

I really enjoyed "Cloverfield". It was an experiment that really paid off. There were a few bits that just seem a little cliché in hindsight but you are far too busy being blown away by being in the middle of the action to notice.
And only one point where I went "Oh, I know what's going to happen in a minute.", but that was rather obvious, too.
No, the short version is "Go and see it. Don't sit too close to the screen." (The camera work takes a little getting used to.)

As for "Johnny M."... Actually, I do take your point. In an age when even Billy idol tried to cash in on "Cyberpunk", this was a pretty decent take on the genre. With the exception of Johnny, Molly/Sally and some of the dialogue. And I wasn't too taken by their Matrix, either, but that might just be because it was nothing like how I imagined the Matrix then.
Hm, I must rewatch the film, I think. And cheer at Udo Kier falling apart.

Have you read "Spook Country" yet? I am still waiting for a more affordable edition.

10,00BC looks great up until the point where they've got mammoths building bloody pyramids. Get rid of that Atlantis-style civilisation, and give me a small group of people killing and being killed by American Pleistocene Megafauna, and I'll be a happy man.

Still the phorusrhachids look good.
