I don't know if I should laugh, cry or scream at those bloody idiots (from Warren Ellis' blog found via Neil Gaiman's). Then again, it's just a tiny group and thankfully, they are even hated by the bible-thumping ultra conservatives. Still, the conviction they're putting into this (and passing on to their children) is scary. Cults are frightening.
Exactly why is the bloke in the background waving a Canadian flag?

That's the scary bit, they really are like that. There was a program with Louis Theroux on them on Channel 4 a few months ago, very very scary.

If it's any consolation they're now bankrupt beyond human imagination. One of the soldiers that they picketed the funeral of's family sued them, and to teach them a lesson the Judge fined the head of the church $8million, ten times the church's net worth.

Let's see. If you claim to be Christian, you are allowed the possibility of redemption at judgment, and the old covenant (of God the smiter) has been suspended in favour of "God of Love". The 10 commandments still stand, and are considered more important thant the small-print 600 rules of ?Leviticus?, particularly for Catholics. (I particularly like "Jed Bartlett's" version. I may not agree personally with the Orthodox Jewish version, but at least it is consistent)

So not "loving thy neighbour" and refusing the possibility of late repentance damms them more thoroughly than those they flame against.

Anyone object to this logic?

That sounds very much like the argument fatalists use.

In countries like India where you have both fatalists and non-fatalists, the fatalists have far more accidents. A simple man might just say their Gods hate them more, but that isn't ineffable enough...

They did a tv show which was on channel 4 in the UK. Also the hate Sweden with a passion due to the gay rights there.
