I just watched the tail end of the EMA on Channel 4. Tokio Hotel were on (and, apart from their dress sense, not as cringe inducing as usual, they seem to be growing up) and during the last quarter of the track they had water come down on them from the ceiling so they were being completely drenched. It looked like they were playing/singing live (instruments plugged in, there were monitors and it didn't look lip-synched). How on Earth did they avoid that things shorted on stage?

It could have been something appropriately non-conductive, like cooking oil.

Hmmm, it wasn't really oily, though and wouldn't that be a bit slippery? Maybe something else. Whatever it was, it was definitely real.

Distilled / purer water can be greatly less conductive, to the point where people can immerse PCs in tanks of distilled water as comedy cooling projects. Maybe they just used distilled water?

Ahh, of course, that might well have worked.
