Wow, a Stephen Spielberg movie that isn't cheesy and schmaltzy.
It's a near future (2054), Big Brother-esque (everybody is tagged and id'd) film with believable tech. The tech was really cool, I thought.
The story had enough twists and surprises to remain interesting, with a Hollywood ending, though. However, I haven't read the short story it's based on.

Acting wise, Tom Cruise was good and Max von Sydow was in his usual form. How old is he now? It seems he hasn't aged since The Exorcist and that was almost 30 years ago...

Does anybody know which Philip K Dick story this is based on and if that's available somewhere?
I didn't pay attention during the credits.

Go and see it and build your own opinion, it'll be worth it.

There is a collection of short stories with the same title, Amazon has it.
I'll get it when I send my next order, probably next month (my bank account is a bit stretched atm).

Well, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep was made into Blade Runner but I'm not sure if there are others.
I meant to start reading some of his stuff but my backlog is long enough as it is...

D'oh, forgot about Total Recall.
Then again, the book is almost unrecognisable in the film.
