Star Trek strangeness

professoryaffle pointed out that Simon Pegg has been cast as Scotty in the next ST film (the one about the academy years of the TOS cast). No idea if he's suitable but he's quite variable so it might work. I guess he'll have to put on some weight again. ;o) IIRC, I haven't seen Chris Pine (Kirk) in anything so can't tell if he'd be any good but Sylar as Spock might just work. I wonder who they are going to pick for Bones...

he and the chap they have cast as Sulu are the only 2 who I have seen on screen

I think Pegg is capable of being a good character actor but I guess we will just have to see how this pans out

The other surprising new on that front if of course Eric Bana as the bad guy

I find the whole idea of Star Trek: Year One totally ridiculous, so they could cast Mr T for all I care, I won't be watching.
