Perfect view of the fireworks last night from our terrace but it wasn't ideal for taking photos, sadly. Did take a nice one of the sunset half an hour earlier, though.

I would make a photo post from yesterday but this connection is too slow and expensive to make it worthwhile so I suggest you click the thumbnail for the flickr stream:

Lots of photos of the parade and some of the games and general goings-on. This stream will be expanded as I go along so check back tomorrow.

What I also wanted to show is my parents' refurbished house. Completely new outside and new windows (except the awkwardly shaped ones in the attic).

Today, I went to the morning session of the fairground, eating white sausages and other grub, watched the parade again, taking more photos (to come) and came home.

Tonight is the closing ceremony and more fun at the fairground.

My goodness, you are keen on your terraces and cute-shaped rooves. My aunt has had her house in Friedrichshaven done up and it has terraces and funny roof bits all over it. Also, very cool windows that mean you can see out while the neighbours can't see in (having a shower with the curtains open is TOO WEIRD FOR ME).

The roof shape has been the same since the house was built in 1911, it was only retiled about five years ago. The terrace has been there since the big refurbishment in the late 60s (my dad basically built a wall around and a lid on top the rubble) but the conservatory is a recent addition (five or so years ago).
The redid the facade (removing the old tiles, installing additional insulation and rendering with coloured plaster) and replaced the rest of the windows with state-of-the-art gas-filled double-glazing. The old double pane windows from the late 60s were slowly disintegrating at the frames.

I should really take a few photos of the new kitchen, too. Might have a go tomorrow or Wednesday. Huge induction hob, mmmm.
