I can understand not liking it since I myself just went to the non-football pub for lunch rather than sitting and watchign the football but I don't understand actually *hating* it. Just interested in the reasoning/explanation/whatever you call it behind it...
And being paranoid I feel the need to make it clear that I have no objections to you hating football. Or to other people loving it. Which I suppose is kind of why I am intrigued... :)
Well, I like football, I watched the second half and caught the goal in the first half and the commentators were actually fairly good...
the reason that it's worth commentating on the commentary is the reason why a lot of people don't like football - nationalism or tribal arrogance gets caught up in it all too easily, especially I'm sad to say in the case of a section (not all!) of the English public.
This is one reason why you find other British people often supporting the other side on because they don't want to be associated with Rule Brittania and cries of 'Cheatin' Argie'
I don't really hate football as such, I can ignore it quite happily. It's not an exciting sport, it isn't that thrilling and most of the time the matches are rather dull. If there was high level (on a technical side) football in every match then maybe but as it is, it's nothing more than 22 men kicking about a ball. It's crap.
What I do hate about it is that very few people can shut up about it and when there's a major tournament you see, hear and read nothing else, because this is very hard to avoid. You open a newspaper - football, you switch on the telly - football. Argh!
And the fans are the worst. If they were at least well behaved but they aren't and they're usually throw a bad light onto their own nation. And I don't mean the hooligans who aren't really fans but just go along to cause trouble. I mean those drunken bastards falling around, smashing bars, screaming at the top of their lungs.
I totaly agree. if ya got any spare granades ozzy can i have some PLEASE :-D as i nearly got run over by some muppets blowing there fucking horns rather than looking where they were going.
