they key thing with bruises is to apply a tiny bit of make up (I find powders best) at a time, and smudge it into the next colour. No idea for links, but I can do them
Brown, Red, and Purple felt-tip pens. Make a big brown smudge, then a slightly smaller red smudge, then a smaller yet purple smudge within that and smudge it all together.

2. bruises come in red, black, blue, yellow, green and purple - but not all at once unless it's massive!
3. Even where the skin isn't properly "bruised" there will be redness spreading out
