So the government and councils want us to save energy where we can and encourage us by offering cheap cavity wall and loft insulation and double glazing.
Why on Earth, then, is the frigging Crown Court building lit up like a Christmas tree (all the offices empty but all lights on) on a Friday night? There won't be anyone over the weekend, either so it's going to be on for 60 hours without anyone actually using the building.
They should set a good example, not put on such a blatant display of ignorance.

If I were inclined to complain, who would I write to?

Just goes to show that the law is an ass! Anyway, on a brighter note, I have to say that I too have discovered ebulbshop.com and think it is excellent. The range is fantastic and the delivery times were really good. Unfortunately, I have just placed an order but did so for more than 6 and got my discount. If I had read this post earlier, I could have let you join my order.

That would have worked but as I don't know who you are, Mr/Ms Anonymous, it's a bit tricky...

The figured out if every office building in the UK that was not being used actually switched off the lights, the saving would be unreal. Also computers were switched off would be brillant for this country's.

That's like Thames water being caught power hosing the windows clean on their massive office block during the hosepipe ban last year

Complaints either to the Court Manager, or, if you want to go above that, the Department of Constitutional Affairs (formerly the Lord Chancellor's Department) which is responsible for the running of the courts.

Alternatively you could write to David Howarth, who is the MP for Cambridge & a law lecturer to boot.

And hey, an energy efficient house is a more valuable house, so you pay higher council tax.

Score!

No, wait...

Complain to your MP, or write to the local newspaper - preferably with a picture of the court in its full glory... Making the government look foolish is probably a safe place to start.

Dear local burglars, please break into the Crown Court and turn the lights off, from Ozzy. That's what I would write...
