Graphics card installed like a breeze and without injury. Also took the opportunity to get some dust out of the innards *cough* *cough*
The only thing that happend is that it reset my desktop (no background picture and all icons arranged irregularly). Other than that, peachy. Sam & Max looks a lot nice and I'm now looking for a game demo or two to see what it can do. Any recommendations? I prefer adventures/RPGs to shooters. No online games and nothing that costs extra. I don't have time to play much, anyway so no online games and nothing that costs extra. I don't even want to buy one.

Can't wait for the new monitor to arrive, although I hope it won't be Wednesday or Thursday as the temptation to play with it could be far greater than going to Tai Chi or playing SLA...

Online RPGs or single player?

Voyage Century is a free MMORPG
PsychoNauts is my favourite single player game as yet.

Hmm.. your birthday is coming up soon isn't it?

Single player. I just want to have a quick look or something I can play occasionally as I don't have the time.
I shall have a look out for a demo of Psychonauts, thanks!

Oooh, someone still plays SLA. That cheers me immensely.

We've been playing off and on in different player configurations for years. The current campaign restarted mid last year with three new players replacing those who had moved away/have other commitments and has been happening happening every two weeks now.

World of Warcraft is pretty (especially the expansion) but does have some downsides:

* it's not as involved as a stand-alone RPG
* you have to buy the game in the first place, plus (at lvl 60) the expansion pack
* it's subscription based
* it can be addictive
* even if you're not addicted, evenings can disappear

But if you joined the Steamwheedle Cartel server and asked for Blayse, I'd be able to sort you out with some gold coins :)

re games, try

http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/

They give away a utility and a game every day, and have a freeware library.

offline, adventure/rpgs... morrowind, and then oblivion, as a steady test of the graphics (and in oblivion, your patience)?

or if you can get hold of them, the german-language versions of Gothic 1, 2, and 3...
(go for the german versions over the english version.... the "mid atlantic" accents in the voiceovers are truly dire in the english one...)
