Is there anything more pointless on prime time weekday TV than Crufts?

Plenty...how about every Stars Up Their Arse type show for a start?

Footballers' wives - at least some of the dogs are in any sense of the word cute.

[livejournal.com profile] chilledchimp likes that too and what I saw of it was very funny. She stole from it heavily for our Gamers' Wives LARP although the inspiration came before the TV show.

I don't know, I haven't watched prime time weekday TV in over a decade. It's the only thing keeping me sane.

Or...well, OK, maybe not sane exactly, but I'd certainly be a hell of a lot more fucked up if I watched that shite!

Oh dear oh dear - and I thought you understood the British soul - crufts is a British institution celebrated by all sensible people in wellies and Barbour jackets....

You are just another Kraut after all....;-)

*laughs* Considering where you are, you shouldn't say that out loud. ;oP

:-) considering that I have my own English book and tea shop, where the majority of the customers are native speakers or anglophiles.... I think I can get away with it...

Crufts is utterly awesome and I get the TV to me for it each year.

Not having a TV, I can't say too much, I suppose, but I can see the attraction of Crufts, whereas I am at an utter loss to understand why people would watch stupid people run around chasing a ball (football), or stupid people not doing very much (Big Brother)

Couldn't the same be said about anything you don't like watching?

Given the percentage of the British population who have / like dogs, then I can understand why it's on TV, and having watched it last night I can say that in my opinion it's not bad entertainment.

Plus I get to see how people I know are doing without having to travel to Birmingham on Sunday.

Any soap opera, reality TV show, game show, chat show with "celeb of the moment", Jeremy Kyle. There is a whole host of rubbish on TV that is on at popular times. At least crufts is only on for a week or so (like the snooker).

I don't care, I have the last 3 TV detector people buried beneath my patio and until they cacth me I save about £100 a year...:)

Crufts was worth it just to see the Irish Water Spaniel last night.

Get thee away from the TV unbeliever!

My goodness you have put your foot in it this time.... I'm just waiting for someone to mention that their grandparents fought a war to stop such evil Germans as yourself...:-) It's almost a reason to leave the EU I think... (chortle).

Bloody foreigners....

Chris

P.S. For those of you who don't understand irony - that bit about foreigners was not meant seriously... some of my best friends are foreigners.... honestly. As long as they stay in their own countries and don't criticize great British institutions like crufts they don't bother me....
P.P.S. That was a joke too.
P.P.P.S. That wasn't.
