because then you'd recognise Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt. Impressed they got Personal Jesus, though.

ION, tesco's security tag system is generic. I triggered it when I walked in because I had a tagged DVD in my bag. Grrrr.

I'm watching that DVD now (D&D 2, doesn't look as bad as the first so far). Bed after that.

They just look for active magnetic strips, library books will trigger them. You actually expected it to be product specific?

Yeah, somehow I thought they'd have their specific code (not product specific but store specific) or something. Apparently not.

Its possible the newer (and some say evil) RFID will actually give out specific IDs that can be picked up but as said above the current systems are generic (though there are a few types so library books won't activate all of them).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_article_surveillance is an article on them that is quite interesting.

I actually worked out some of this myself when I use to go shoppping with an old walkman on. When you walk between the detectors my unshielded headphones (or some other component) used to pick up the EM humm between them. And then just noticing the ones with the capacitor and coil as well. I have this ache at heart to investigate all security measures to prove how pointless they are.

"Hurt!". JC's version was one of the finest covers (and videos) of all time.

The third track on the Single is "Wichita Lineman". Retro, but hardly goth.

Indeed.

True. Someone into JC's music would have worked, too.

There are some things a man shouldn't admit to in public. Bizarre sexual perversions are all very well provided they hurt no-one who doesn't want to be hurt, but watching D&D2 is definitely on the wrong side of the line.

So admitting to a D&D fetish would be OK? ;oÞ

Less embarrassing, in any case.

Also where did you get D&D2 from? Is it import only or are there retailers in the UK with it?

Import via amazon marketplace. Only took 7 weeks to arrive, allegedly stuck in customs...

I had the tags thing happen to me this morning. Stupid DVD had one hidden inside the case. Random Tescos employee helped me take it out when the alarm went off as I left. Didn't even question the situation :)

But then if he'd checked, the DVD was a region 1 and something I doubt they even have in stock.

Yeah, mine was hidden in the case, too (the case being sealed shut with extremely sticky tape).

Bah. Everyone should recognise that :P

And D&D2... it bears no relationship to the first. Unsurprisingly, it's not half as bad! I mean, I actually quite enjoyed it instead of trying to climb walls to escape :D

Yeah, pretty much the same reaction I had.
