Mortal Kombat: Annihilation is a film that might even be too bad for the Holloways' bad movie night. I think I need to be drunk to watch this and not despair but it's OK to have on in the background while working on [livejournal.com profile] sea_cucumber

ETA: The best bit is "Engel" by Rammstein in the end credits. ;oÞ

I am reliably informed that not only is that film the worst thing ever made or released, but that after watching it, even nice things become somehow less bright and wonderful, such is the immense, world-destroying awfulness of that film.

Just so you know *grins*

Well, there is an MK3 being made, that rumours suggest kinda ignores the previous one. You know, sort of like that thing that some people say happened between highlander and highlander 3 that never really did happen...

Plus it was rumoured to be starring Cristopher Lambert as Raiden again, but I don't think I'll hold my breath on that one. ;)

Ah yes, the sequel so bad that even Christopher Lambert wouldn't appear in it. Neato.

I lasted for about 2 minutes of that film last night before my brain started trying to eat itself, so I switched over to watch something far more sensible and grown-up... Spongebob Squarepants!

Pffft. I have watched MK2; it might not be bad enough for our bad movie night, actually; it's shite, and sloppy, and badly acted, but it's mostly just dull and confusing. The original film was a bit ropey, but it went ahead with a smile and a song, neither winking at the audience nor taking itself too seriously, and it had a few laffs for good measure.

I can remember watching it when it first came out. It was the midnight showing at the Leicester Odean, we had the front middle seats, there were only 4 of us in the entire cinema, and the only reason we were there was because we thought a cinema was a great place for munchies and then got a ticket each to maintain our cover.
I can hardly remember a thing about the film itself but just the experience of watching it was fantastic, most likely due to us all being spammed out of our minds :-)
