My vegbox yesterday contained Squash which shall make its way into some form of curry or chilli.
It looks so lovely, I don't really want to eat it. :o)

In photogeek news, the white balance presets of the D80 seem to be more realistic than those of the D70. This was taken under flourescent light (I have a tube above my stove/worktop/sink combination) and this image is pretty much unaltered except for a slight brightness and contrast adjustment of the NEF image in Lightroom.

Isn't Lightroom just fantastic?

I'm not sure I'll get it when it comes out (the default Cannon software seems to pretty much do everything that I don't need photoshop for) and I suspect a rather hefty price tag will be slapped on it when it does come out of beta, but if it's in the sub £60 range the sheer slickness of the setup and speed of developing the digital negs might well persuade me.

Very important question: how do you peel squash? It takes me forever and it is pissing me off...

Good question. :o) This will be the first time I'll make squash.
I'd cut it into quarters or eighths, steam/microwave those and then peeling should be easier by just cutting along the peel.

With a really sharp knife, OR you simply slice and de-seed, then bake or roast and scoop the flesh out once the skin is soft. All depends really on what you plan to do with it.

Dude, come to our house, look at the squashes, bring a camera. Got several like that one there, its hard to be exactly sure but yours looks like one called 'celebration', although it could also be 'harlequin'. Very tasty; if its celebration then its one of the sweetest squashes there is.
