I've just watched the DVD that came with the 5th anniversary Ad Noiseam box set I bought at Infest. The last video on it is for Larvae's Solo Shoots First and it is the mass sword fight scene from Kill Bill 1 but with lightsabres instead of katanas (i.e. lightsabre blades superimposed on the orginal sword blades).
How the fuck did they get the licence to do that?

Actually Lucas Film is very keen on promoting amature film makers, they even do competitions for diy star wars films.
As such they're quite lenient on the use of lightsabers in films.

I believe Tarantino is also quite keen on getting people into film making, but more importantly he probably just thought it looked cool and gave permission because of that.

I will note however, that her second sword changes from red to green as soon as she kicks off the original owner. :o)

The thing that threw me was that it wasn't a restaging but the actual copy just with added lightsabres. Good on Tarantino.
Also, a Larvae video won't be seen by a lot of people...
