OK, they lost (and, tbh, fairly) but why were the Argentinians so out of it at the end? I mean if there had been a bad ref decision, you could explain such a tantrum but why throw punches? o_O

Just blame it on the usual bad latin temperament.

if there had been a bed ref decision,...

What, as in the ref oversleeping? ;)

Well its typical Latin temperament at times, they hate losing.

I guess some of the players weren't happy with the penalty taking arrangement - possibly the coach picked the players and the order, rather than the players themselves, the ones who were feeling confident about it. The state of Argentina's penalty taking as a result showed, they were poor.

I had the feeling that someone (a German player or official) said something to Heinze (Argentine player) which he took offence over and things progressed from there into the mass brawl.

No doubt we'll hear more about it at as the news filters through later...

Germans (or people of German ancestry) don't have a good reputation. I hope it wasn't that...

o_O
I'm switching between cringing and giggling insanely at this...
Ah, footballers' quotes, the source of much amusement. You could fill books with them. "If we want to get to the final, we'll have to beat everyone, anyway"

Germany v Argentina

They were stressed and pissed off
The Germans would have been stressed and pissed off if they had lost. Granted the Germans wouldn't have picked a fight because they are well behaved [although there was a lot of diving wasn't there... come on, be honest..]

I am glad the Germans won because they are my third fave team. My first team is, of course, England and second team is Brazil. Argentina is not on my list since they broke Beck's foot all that time ago.

It's a lot easier to watch the World Cup when it's not your top team - that is so stressful - that will be me tomorrow when we take on Portugal.

Who is your second team after Germany?

To be honest, I'm not really a fan but sometimes especially at world cups etc. it's rather compelling watching.
Also, I like if the better team win, no matter who I'm rooting for.

I think Brazil still play the most elegantly - and have the prettiest female fans. ;o)

I'm trying to guess who you are but I'm failing. Looking at your friends list, you're probably one of the freeforms crowd but no definite name/face comes to mind. The preference for poodles doesn't help...
Fancy giving me a hint? ;o)

Apparently, the Argentinians were making off-putting noises as the Germans prepered to take the penalties. They got upset when they were told about it.
