Is pretty crap.
Very slow and boring in the beginning. The last half hour or so was quite good as you finally started feeling for the characters and the pace picked up but the start was just nothing. I'm not dramaturgist but that could have been done so much better.
The idea is actually quite nifty (and disturbing but strangely possible) but it just didn't work. Instead of "OMG, what's going on?" it was "I wonder if anything is going to happen" for the first almost 60 minutes. I think the main reason was that you just didn't care what was going on. The nudity and sex didn't do anything for me, either.
That old hospital (or whatever) was a great location, though. I'd love to spend a day or so there to take photos or even use it as a set.

Slither, on the other hand, looks like a fun gory horror flick with Captain Tightpants and slithering beasties that eat people. Looks like it could be a new Tremors. ;o)

Thats a shame. I was hoping for something good out of Hostel. Might just wait for the rental release now.

Not sure about Slither. It has a 80's Creepshow sort of look to it which I'm not sure whether I like or not.

I came out of Hostel thinking exactly the same. The best part of that hour and a half was seeing the Slither trailer on a big screen :)

The general idea behind Hostel was great, but the failure to make us like any of the characters at the start tends to let down a horror film. Unfortunately I thought the ending was pretty damn crappy too. It just wrapped it all up too neatly, especially with that guy from Amsterdam appearing mysteriously at the end. Saw did the whole trapped/torture thing better

IMHO *most* characters in horror films are pretty loathsome. It's only when you get a half likable character that the drama increases (JLC in Halloween springs to mind).

Very true, probably why not many horrors click and send chills down my spine ;)
