I really rather liked it.
I don't know enough about the UK of the early 70s to have spotted any outrageous anachronisms so that's all cool. For a British TV production it's also quite well acted.
Oh look, an appropriate icon. :o)

And for those who were wondering and didn't see it, it's called Life on Mars because the David Bowie song was playing on Sam's iPod (and then his car radio) when the accident happened.

I enjoyed it enough to set the Sky box to record it next week

The Skybox watches things for you. It's very useful in that regard.

I guess *that* is the secret of the series. You know, like what happened to the people in Lost. ;o)
He gets hit by a car in 2005, wakes up in an empty lot in the 70s. His car isn't a Jeep Cherokee anymore but a beat up car from the era (didn't pay attention) and is wearing appropriate clothes.

I assume he's in a coma and it's all in his mind. He wakes up from falling asleep in front of the TV and the BBC science guy suddenly talks about and then to him.
There's also a scene in the police HQ when he hears the machine with the bing etc.
The murder case he was working on before the accident is connected to the one is getting into in the 70s (he's a DI there, too).

I had to laugh out loud when they jumped over the desk in slow motion. Classic 70s moment.
No sliding over car's bonnets yet, though. :o)

I thought it was fantastic, though growing up in Manchester in the mid-late 70's it has some extremely deep set memories for me! Seeing an old Manchester Bus with the old orange and white livery certainly got my attention.

I'm having 'oops

First thing I thought was "Night Watch." A bit disappointed to see that the killer was in fact a small boy in 1973, and not a time travelling murderer.

yeah I missed the start but wanted to watch it and it was ace they had the right level of 70's cop show spoof and feel.

Interested to see the next one now he has solved the case that mattered.
