Rush

Yesterday afternoon, I left work at 4, drove to the station, met up with [livejournal.com profile] phoenix_tat and trained down to London chatting about various things. Had to wait a bit for the next tube to Wembley but there were no problems getting there. Some confusion as to where we had to go but we found the arena eventually.
Loads of people there and I didn't feel old for once. ;o) The venue was pretty much packed, just in the very back on the sides were a number of free seats.

Rush started at about 7:40 and played a killer set with a 20 minute break in between. Prog Rock at its finest, definitely, maybe a bit too precise for my taste. Impressive lightshow and pretty good sound from where we were (on the floor, last third). A huge screen with great resolution at the back of the stage showed visuals or live footage of the stage so we saw everything clearly.
One of the highlights was the drum solo. Very very cool.

I left at about 10:45 because I needed a pee and wanted to avoid the rush (excuse the pun) for the Underground station.
I ended up missing the second from last train back to Cambridge by a minute and had to take the last one which on top of being the really slow one was diverted via Welwyn Garden City.

Was home eventually a bit after 2. Well worth it, though. Probably the best gig I've been to without knowing much of the music being played beforehand.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] phoenix_tat for offering his spare ticket. I'll post the setlist when I get it from him.
