I finally managed to find ebooks of the old Captain Future pulps. Shame that the link to Seven Space Stones is broken...

Do you know if/where it's possible to get the animated Captain Future series in German, for a reasonable price, and preferably on DVD?

You can get all German episodes as they were aired (i.e. in the wrong order) in two, quite pricey (one is EUR 40, the other 50), DVD box sets.
However, there was no digital remastering so some episodes are a bit noisy and they are the cut versions that were aired on German TV, so the picture quality isn't great.
The only extra to speak of is the original pilot "Star Trail to Glory" in Japanese with German subtitles. (I'm so glad they had to make new music...).

I would have preferred remastered original Japanese with decently translated subtitles but it's still a great thing to have in your collection if you were a fan.
I even very successfully ran a roleplaying game at a con in Germany. :o)

Get them from Amazon.de: Set 1 (http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000AZ090/qid=1091544534/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2_2/028-4791125-1149353) Set 2 (http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000AZ091/qid=1091544534/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_2_1/028-4791125-1149353)

If your French is up to scratch, get the French version, they are uncut (and I think even remastered).
