I pan-fried it and had some buttery and creamy mash with it and it tasted really nice. Very filling as well so I have more than enough left for lunch tomorrow.

When I had one I just boiled it in it's skin for an hour, throwing in some potato and turnip (or 'tatties and neeps' in the local parlance) at the halfway point. I ate those solid, though tradition says I should mash them (not into mashed anything, really).

My problem was that I was really hungry and didn't want to wait for an hour so all it took was about 30 minutes (til the potatoes were done). Besides, I prefer fried to boiled.
