Kingdom Hospital has been on BBC2 for a while, tonight's episode 4. Looks like it's not too late to step in yet, though.

The series is based on The Kingdom, a very obscure and screwy but utterly superb Danish miniseries about a haunted hospital with a staff that is more sick in in many ways than their patients, and adapted by Stephen King. It looks like it's a bit less obscure and strange than the Danish original but still rather screwed in the head.

I'm actually surprised that it's being shown so quickly, it must have just finished over in the US.

It's managed to keep the weirdness in there quite nicely, and surprisingly the quirky black humour as well... I've not watched tonight's episode yet, but I've been following it up to now and have recorded it to watch later.

It's been pretty faithful to the original, but with some extra bits added as well. I guess having Lars von Trier executive producing it has helped...

I should have guessed that you know about it. ;o)

According to the BBC website for the series, it was more a collaboration between King and von Trier than just King adapting the story.

Saw a few eps of the Kingdom a while back. Seriously freaky stuff. I wouldn't mind watching from the start.

I'm a big fan of the Danish 'Kingdom' but haven't bothered checking out the US-version. It put me off by originally calling itself 'Stephen Kings: Kingdom Hospital' whcih I thought was grossly inaccurate even if Mr King did write the US adaptation.
