It was a dark and bleepy night
4 Feb 2004 02:07 amWow, that was one of the best Callings I've been to.
First, I had a bit of trouble finding somewhere to park as Jesus Lane, Kings Street and side streets were packed (was there some big event in town?) but made it with enough time to familiarise myself with the new decks and the other mixer I hadn't used before. Then, it was time and I started
Deine Lakaien - Mindmachine (acoustic)
Faun - Unda
Qntal - Am Morgen fruo [Bruno Kramm]
Saltatio Mortis - Zeit
Corvus Corax - La Douce [Atomix Avenue]
Helium Vola - Do tagte ez
The Inchtabokatables - Endless Rail
Apocalyptica feat. Nina Hagen - Seemann
Tiamat - Cain
Johnny Cash - Personal Jesus
:wumpscut: - Wreath of Barbs
Funker Vogt - Lügner [Rearranged]
Rotersand - Almost Violent
Unheilig - This Corrosion
Suicide Commando - Hellraiser
Tactical Sekt - Soulless
P•A•L - Gelöbnis
Hocico - Ruptura [Combichrist]*
Combichrist - Kiss the Blade [motherfucker 667 mix]
Chaos Engine - Nothing*
*track request
Starting with Johnny Cash, people danced! I was well chuffed with that.
A lot of people complimented me on my set which really pleased me as I thought I could have done better.
scy11a even said "You're too good, we're not going to invite you back." *grins*
And then
scy11a continued to rock the joint with some good goth and later a superb harsh electro set. Gods, I need to get fit, I can't even dance/stomp to three consecutive tracks...
Lots of people there, including
sogoth whose present I hadn't forgotten,
twentypence and Vicky,
jonnyargles styled by
robinbloke (I forgot my camera!) and the usual crowd.
A very very good but tiring night.
A quiz for you:
I played tracks by three different bands/projects which have a connection. Which bands are they and who or what is the connection?
Also, two bands I played (different to the above) are essentially the same as they're made up by the same members. Who?
scylla,
jonny_eol and
sogoth hold back for a bit please because I think you know.

Ernest Horn comprises of 'half' of Deine Lakaien, and it's his main project. Qntal was a side project (with some other misc musicians who played with Deine Lakaien) until they had some sort of falling out about two years ago and he ditched that project (which the others kept going) and started Helium Vola, which sounds very Qntal-like to my ears! The only bit I'm not sure about is the track you played comes (I think) from Qntals new album, which Ernest Horn had nothing to do with so this may not be the answer you are looking for!
Wow!
The remixed Qntal track I played is on the Nihil CDS, the original is on Qntal III.
Your answer was more specific than I was looking for. The fact that Ernst Horn now has not much or nothing to do with Qntal wasn't that important. ;o)
What about the second question (two bands with identical members)?
