Proper Octaine update
10 Oct 2003 12:37 pmFirst of all, huge thanks to
dreamingchristi and
razornet for their guest DJ efforts and to everybody helping out at the door and with promotion. We will need more of the latter, though.
It started off with
dreamingchristi with a lovely set of a mix of all things Christi, so that was cool.
Then it was my go with Americana (with Sandy Bull's Carmina Burana Fantasy getting exactly the reaction I had expected) and some Medieval/Crossover. Not too many people there yet.
andrewdavies was next with his set of psychobilly, punk and ska and things I don't understand and things got moving slowly.
razornet played a fantastic set of goth/electro/industrial/things that really went down well.
For some reason, my grunge/funk/soul/blues set wasn't very popular (compared to last time), so I mostly played to an empty dancefloor. However, loads of people had already left.
Andy finished it all of with an obscure mix of things.
It wasn't as much of an success as last time but still people had fun and that's cool.
If anyone has any hints as to how to improve our lineup/way of doing things and especially how to enhance our promotion/advertising, we'd be grateful to receive them.
