[livejournal.com profile] wilwheaton's Memories of the Future turned up today. In this little book he's written up the first half of ST:TNG Season 1, each consisting of a rather substantial synopsis of the episode in a really amusing, snarky and irreveverent style (especially about Wesley Crusher and the awful sweaters he had to wear), followed by a short "quotable dialogue", "obligatory technobabble", "behind the scenes memory" (production/shooting anecdotes) and finishing with "The Bottom Line" with his thoughts about the episodes.
It's a really good and entertaining read and I recommend it to anyone, or at least any TNG fan because you should really have seen the episodes a few times to remember the bits he's going on about. Because it's a POD book (Lulu.com), it's a bit pricey but you can also get it as PDF ebook.

Mentioning Wil Wheaton, the Big Bang Theory episode he's in (this week's in the US) is really funny (at least if you're a gamer and a Trekker).

Yes, it's the Masterchef Professionals final.
It's going to be a head-to-head between Steve and Daniel (Marianne's food is tasty but she's not sophisticated enough, sadly) who both made it to the semifinal because the judges couldn't decide who was the better one in their heat. On his own, Daniel might slowly have the edge because judges tend to go for people who've made the most progress overall (like Matt Follias in the amateur series) so I guess their performance in the event catering challenge will decide the race. The preview hinted at some big cockups during the catering challenge but left out who was responsible for them so if both Daniel and Steve screw up royally, Marianne might come out on top, after all.
Whatever the outcome, it's going to be close. Unlike in previous series, I don't have a favourite. I'd very happily eat whatever those three are cooking.

The new Seasick Steve album, Man From Another Time, is really good. It's mostly rather slow and quiet (except for the last track) but that's not a bad thing in Blues.
The plank he played on Later... is called a "Diddley Bo". ;o)

ARGH, he plays the Corn Exchange on the 15th next month and it's sold out. How did I miss this? ARGH. :o(

[livejournal.com profile] mansunite just pointed out that the LJ frontpage (i.e. just www.livejournal.com) was blank except for an icon-sized pic of a robed figure.
It's back to normal now but it was extremely odd. You couldn't view the page source, either.
