Fire&Forget and Rome Burns at MOTM
13 Nov 2008 10:48 amLast night was great.
I finally got out of work, drove down, picked up a huge and greasy "pancake roll" from the Chinese across the road from the MOTM, hung out with a few of the band members in front, went inside to meet more friends (I seemed to know everyone), bought a shiny copy of Rome Burns' new album, The Static Murmur and chatted with people until Fire&Forget came on. They played a fun set that went down well and included two new songs.
alixandrea put on a fine mix of tunes (note to self: must get some Snake River Conspiracy) while Rome Burns got ready and the MOTM filled up, too.
Rome Burns played a splendid set with a mix of new material and classics. As
devalmont said, they are a really tight band. The new material rocks as well. I think they suffered a bit from muddy sound (less so than F&F but still noticeable). It could just have been my position but I couldn't hear
nevla's guitar very clearly.
toripink singing a few lines was a welcome addition, too, she should sing more!
They had a short break in the middle and threw some goodies (badges, tshirts, sweets, CDs) into the crowd, almost resulting in various injuries. I got an extra chapter of
simonsatori's superb and funny book, Assumptions and Carnations. :o)
I left soon after they had finished because I really needed to put my feet up so I came home, put on The Static Murmur while catching up on LJ and email and then watched another episode of Lost before going to bed.
