Got up earlier than during the week (7:30), had a quick shower and breakfast and took the bus to the station (plenty of time to catch the 9:15 which would have gotten me to the venue half an hour early) but instead there was a replacement bus to Royston and then thankfully a nonstop train. It still meant I was not quite half an hour late for the workshop but I hadn't missed anything as people were still introducing themselves. The workshop proper started soon enough (more detail later in a separate post) and I spent the rest of the morning and all afternoon listening to [livejournal.com profile] scottchurch's advice and shooting a variety of gorgeous models who were all wonderful, friendly and great to work with at an awesome location with lots of natural light.
Oh, and I finally got to meet [livejournal.com profile] fracture242, [livejournal.com profile] frozen_amaranth and [livejournal.com profile] shadowkat_69 in person! Shame that time didn't allow any shots with Nadja as she was in high demand but I'm sure there will be another opportunity.

I had originally intended to cut the workshop short a little bit so I could get more of the Folk Festival but I stayed til the end, anyway because it was the right thing to do.

Another train and bus journey back and I was back in Cherry Hinton to catch the tail end of Allen Tuissant's performance which I'm a bit sad to have missed most of but sometimes stupid traffic gets in the way. Managed to get rather far to the front after he'd finished (about 20m from the stage, in reasonable reach of my 85mm. KD Lang's performance was utterly wonderful, such a voice! First I thought, oh, she's playing Hallelujah early in the set, but when she followed it with Instant Gravy Constant Craving I realised it was at an end already. The encore was really special, though and a lot of fun. Afterwards, I bought a bite to eat, wandered around a bit and then took the bus home where a couple of blokes who got on in town centre later randomly burst into the March of the Sinister Ducks...

I had orginally wanted to head to the Folk Festival around now but it's raining steadily which means I'd get soaked just by walking to and from the bus stop. Finding shelter in one of the marquees is most likely out, too. I'll give it another hour or so and see how it goes but I will go in for Seth Lakeman.
