The lie in I had was a bit longer than intended but I needed it so I only made it to Strawberry Fair a good bit after 12. Wandered around a bit to get the layout (they had moved the Wigwam stage to the town end) and failed to find anyone except
nannyo/Mup/
professoryaffle/
dr_wez/
nurse_liz/Kit/
bloomeenee and the rest of the gang. We walked around a bit,
nannyo bought a nifty orange dress and then we parted ways because I wanted to see some music.
Music seen: An acoustic duo playing among their own stuff a fantastic version of Billie Jean, some rubbish cover band with a cuteish singer, Fire&Forget, Caimbo (more on those two later) and The Skints. Random bits and pieces on other stages (among others two children on the Wigwam stage). Apart from FF and Caimbo nothing really inspiring this year, sadly.
Headed homewards 6ish, freshened up a bit, picked up a bottle of wine and started the adventure of trying to find
cabd's place. Found it eventually (the way back was much quicker) and the party was in full swing with the two BBQs just starting to get going. There were lovely chats with people I hadn't seen in quite a while, geeking about science and of course awesome food (marinated pigeon breasts, various veggie things, various lamb skewers and sausages and of course cakes - glitter on cake is still wrong - and the "a trifle different trifle"). Some good beer, too, like the MorningGolden Glory and the very interesting Rowan wine. I flaked around 10 so headed home.
More on Music:
Fire&Forget were on pretty good form and clearly enjoyed the big stage. Got some good shots of them, too, as there was plenty of (natural) light for once.
Caimbo were a good laugh. They looked like they were going to play cheesy AOR but it was actually a mix of styles. They had a huge following and it was just fun watching (and shooting) them. Quite professional as musicians, too.
Photos tomorrow.
