[Big Trip] A quiet day
17 Dec 2006 03:46 pmYesterday was absolutely wonderful, with the weather getting even better towards the evening (bright sunshine, very still sea). During dinner, the wind picked up quite a bit, though and during the night there was a "storm" apparently. I just noticed the ship was rolling considerably as things were slipping off the table. Good thing that book just missed my head as it slid off the shelf. Must remember to secure everything before turning in... It was a good test for the things to come, though as I didn't feel the slightest pang of seasickness. Trying to keep my balance without splasing myself while using the loo was a different thing entirely. ;o) I think at heavy seas sitting down is in order.
Now (11:45 local time) it's rather dreary, foggy and rainy outside as we go Northish through the Magellan Strait, with the destination being Puerto Natales where we'll drop anchor for the night.
Tomorrow is an all day trip to the Torres Del Paine National Park, a beautiful mountain region (look it up on the net) and hopefully some time for exploring Puerto Natales. The weather forecast is good (so far, but can change very quickly indeed as we've seen last night).
Time to work on the photos I took last night before the lunch buffet. Good thing it's a buffet so I can choose what and how much I eat as otherwise, I'd be rolling around soon.
