Shivers down my spine
13 Mar 2006 11:47 amJust listening to Buddy Guy's current album. Traditional Blues with some interesting twists and a few cool duets/collaborations (e.g. Ain't No Sunshine with Tracy Chapman).
He's one of the artists I'd really like to see live at one point. I wonder if he's touring the UK (his website says no but they say he's touring in autumn, too)...

I have to say this organic box business has given a boost to my imagination in the kitchen. Previously, I would through the supermarket and pick something that looked nice and still end up making the same old tried recipes. Now with the box, I'm forced not only to cook more often but also try and do something with ingredients I usually wouldn't use.
Inspired by a recipe I remembered reading somewhere (but was too hungry to try and find), I made a gigantic (well, 30cm, as big as my frying pan) Rösti using potatoes, swedes, carrots and onions, two eggs as glue and some flour to soak up the wetness, seasoned with salt, pepper, nutmeg and rosemary. It tasted very yummy indeed but I should have left it a bit longer before flipping as it broke up, so presentation wasn't very nice (hence no photo). I'm still very happy with it as it was crispy and will include it in my repertoire, changing ingredients to whatever I've got available and maybe use a bit more flour next time and/or make several smaller patties rather than one big one.
I have left: two potatoes, a leek, a chunk of swede (couldn't face grating it all) and several onions. I believe I can find something to do with those tomorrow. :o)

Attention flickr users
13 Mar 2006 10:06 pmThis photo is visible to all:

That's interesting, because this photo is marked as private on flickr.
It's also disconcerting, as I previously thought that setting a photo private will make it invisible to anyone else and checking friends or family will make it visible to flickr users that are defined as friends or family. This might be the case within flickr but not for links posted on external sites.
I just checked the flickr FAQ and it says:
What if I don't want everyone to see my photos?
That's not a problem. Every photo comes with its own privacy settings. You can make a photo available to everyone (That's public, and includes people visiting the site who aren't Flickr members), only make it visible to people who are your friends, just to your family, to both your friends and family, or you can keep an image completely private.
It doesn't mention that copied links will still work...
