karohemd: by LJ user gothindulgence (tai chi)
The short answer is no. I'm tired but that's mainly due to not having slept well last night (too bright in the main room, first lights and then bright daylight through the doors and windows). I don't feel achey or tense at all.
I even wouldn't have minded an evening session yesterday or fewer or at least shorter breaks but I had opportunity to practice on my own in a large space inside and outside. I've learned a lot from a variety of instructors and have a lot to think about incorporating the things learned into my set. Seeing so many people (the majority of whom my senior by 10-40 years) doing this art was absolutely wonderful.
These people (i.e. the Taoist Tai Chi Society of GB) know how to run a big event (260+ people). Like the Cam, it's a non-profit org completely run by volunteers (and, like the US Cam, a charity) and separated into national, regional and local administration levels. Everything worked, everything was in its place
Unlike the Cam, people are a lot more friendly, and everybody is willing to help everyone else. I've very rarely felt so comfortable within a group of people who are so completely outside my usual social groups (the average age is probably close to 50, very few are younger than me). Obviously, a society that big (over 6,000 members in GB) has a lot of people  from all walks of life and professions to draw from so there are properly financially trained people doing finances, legal experts taking care of that aspect and so forth.
The European Centre is very nice, too. Purpose built practice hall with adjoining accomodation block (think youth hostel style beds) and a not only fully working but decent kitchen including a range of proper gasfired  firepits for wok-cooking (and the gigantic woks to go with it, silly me didn't take a pic but I was practicing when they were cooking).
Three Chinese meals in two days mean I'll probably won't have takeaway for a while. :o)

The actual Tai Chi practice was excellent (more about that and a few pics later in a cut post so I won't bore those not interested). I'm very happy that I went.
