When hunger strikes in London
18 Apr 2005 06:50 pmIf you're in the Islington/Angel area and fancy some fine Asian food, I can recommend Viet Garden in Liverpool Road. The three of us shared two large starters (1/4 crispy duck and Golden Pancakes), three soups and two mains with tea for a total of just under £50 which is very cheap for London. The food was gorgeous and plentiful.
I suggest getting there by 8pm unless you book a table, it gets busy very quickly, at least on weekend nights.
Starters and soups average under or around £4, mains around 7/8 with a few exceptions (the especially yummy looking seabass for £14). I can especially recommend the "sizzling" plates. The wonderful Hanoi style fish was a special on the blackboard so it's probably not available regularly.
Service was quick and friendly but got a bit slower as the place filled up.
Highly recommended.
