Gaming day
5 Dec 2004 02:17 amThis morning I got up at 7, earlier than any other day during the last three weeks or so and made my way to London. Got to the venue at about 9:15 (the next train would have gotten me there too late) and
pond823 for some reason decided I was a member of staff and let me in early...
Wandered around a bit, took photos, ran into
muskrat_john and handed over the beer.
Then it was 10 and people started filing in. I had the impression it was as well attended as the last one but maybe people were distributed better among the various floors. I'm sure
angusabranson will have the details at one point.
I had managed to sign up for Andy Peregrine's Firefly game which was good fun if cut short a bit as we decided to ignore a plot device. ;o) I hope there will actually be a proper RPG, it's a great setting.
After that and buying various things I just chatted to people, played the odd game (incl. All Wound Up!), missed out on various games because of bad luck and bad timing but had a great time after all.
There was another auction where I spent more money than I should have but was all for charity (Cancer Research UK).
People I met are too numerous to mention but included a few Cammies and the regulars.
vierkilau finally got his birthday present and seemed happy with it.
I so need an oven so I can make Igor Bars (vile as they are) and enter the bake-off. I want one of those aprons! ;o)
Also due to bad timing I didn't get to watch any of the panels but there weren't that many this year, anyway.
( shopping list )
Said goodbye to a few people and teamed up with
vierkilau to stop by the Greenwich game to say hi to people and NPC a bit. Would have loved to watch the end but decided I wanted to be home at a reasonable time. Got to KingsX 25 minutes before the train was supposed to leave and it was already almost full. It was completely stuffed with people standing in the aisles later. Bloody christmas shoppers...
Photos tomorrow.
