Cdatakill - The Cursed Species (5/5)
The new album, released on 1st of October, so probably the first UK club play at Octaine tonight.
Unlike the previous efforts
Paradise and
Brazilian Nightmare this album contains ten original tracks and most of them are all out Noise and Breakcore with just one ambient track. The styles change from track to track and you get a bit of everything, stompy, bouncy and dancy tracks and a couple you could only convulse madly to. ;o)
Scrap.edx - The Latitude Zero Project (5/5)
More Noise, Drum&Noise, Breakcore and loud shit on the first big album. You get two CDs, the first with 13 original tracks and the second with 12 remixes of the former by the who is who in the obscure Noise scene (Mlada Fronta, Tarmvred, Detritus, Liar's Rosebush, Dither, Cell Auto Mata etc. etc.)
Again, a wonderful mix of dancefloor fillers and noisy ambient/background music. First Class.
Totakeke - At the Train Station on a Saturday Evening (4/5)
While still technically Noise, this release is a lot more ambient than the two above. It's a full album but two tracks were already on the
lament EP and at firt listen unchanged. All 13 tracks are original, no remixes. Very relaxing electronic soundscapes, not completely ambient but not enough bouncy beats to be really floor filling. Great as roleplaying soundtrack.
Maybe just a little bit samey, hence the lower score. Still, if you haven't heard of them and are looking for some cool, mellow Noise, this album is a must
V.A. - Proven in Action (4/5)
A sampler of all things heavy industrial, (ambient) Noise, Drum&Noise and Breakcore.
17 tracks from mellow ambient tunes to all-out Bag of Spanners mayhem. If you know the
tonal destruction samplers, you get a good idea in which direction this is going. Artists include Tarmvred, Splitter, Arzt+Pfusch (!), Larvae, The Pain Machinery and Detritus.
V.A. - Dark Pathways 3, variant archives (5/5)
Mainly ambient noise/experimental electronica of the finest, 16 wonderful tracks across the board by artists such as The [Law-Rah] Collective (the only one I knew of beforehand), Fractal Spine and Imperial Floral Assault Unit. I was lucky to get the last copy...
All of these are available at
Ad Noiseam. They have loads of mp3 samples on their website. Go and check them out.
