Final reply from the BBC
6 Sep 2001 05:27 pmDear Mr Beck
Thank you for your email regarding 'They Think It's Uber Alles'.
I am sorry to note you were concerned with the title of the programme and felt
it could cause offence.
As you point out, this is a play on words created for the special edition of the
programme in anticipation of the crucial fixture between England and Germany.
There was no intention to cause offence but rather to make a pun of the regular
title of the programme. We feel this is in line with the nature of the
programme which relies on sharp wit and satire for humour. We have not received
any notable feedback on this issue suggesting the title was largely taken in the
humorous manner intended, as you yourself did.
Thank you again for contacting the BBC with your views which have been
registered on a log which is circulated throughout the BBC.
Yours sincerely

Hmmm, not really what I had in mind but fair enough, I suppose.
People who know me (and most of you reading this do, I guess) know that I do have a sense of humour, despite my heritage. However, there are some things which my heritage prevents me from laughing about (or rather suggests I shouldn't), at least in public, and that's what I intended to express with my mail to the BBC...
