[Poll #1489311]

ETA: Surprising result, seems to be a bit more Central Europe-centric than I thought but I'll wait for a few more votes to come in. Reason for posting this in a separate post.

Dieser Poll ist unzureichend! *stampf*
Nirgends ist eine Option "Im Prinzip Ja, aber...." oder "Im Prinzip Nein. Allerdings..."

:-P

I know but I didn't want to make it too obvious/confusing. ;o)
Also, it would have required check boxes.

That is very similar. Thanks!

I only know because a year or so ago I was idly exploring stuff re Soviet humour (I can't remember why). AFAIK it has a pretty much zero awareness level in British culture, even among geeks.

Unsuprising that I have heard of it really though

I would have been disappointed if you hadn't. ;o)

Interesting. I guess it makes sense that people more likely to be subjected to Soviet propaganda (despite being in the West during the Cold War) due to proximity know of it. It was certainly a staple on the fun pages of the Saturday edition of the newspaper back home.

Still, you were one of those people I assumed would know of it. :o)

I like this one:

I do now, of course. :)
I've encountered Soviet humour before but not this specific sort.

As I said above, it might not have made its way that far.
Sputnik was translated into several languages but I guess other countries didn't pick up on it. It was a regular feature in West German newspapers, though.
